9/11 Health Bill Passes Key House Panel

A bill that would provide long-term health care coverage and compensation for those sick or injured from 9/11 passed another hurdle after being approved on May 25 by The House Energy and Commerce Panel.

The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act would not only provide health care for first responders and those who are sick because of the attacks but would also make permanent federal program to provide medical monitoring for those exposed to toxins released by the World Trade Center Towers.

“We’ve now had three key votes in the House in favor of the bill, and with each one the Zadroga Act has gathered new momentum,” East Side Rep. Carolyn Maloney said. “We look forward to bringing this bill to a vote on the House floor in the coming weeks.”

No date has been chosen for when the bill will come to a full House vote.

Rollerblading in Central Park
Let’s be honest: You have an urge to strap into some rollerblades and try crossing right over left. So put on a helmet and wristguards (required) and join one of these free blading tours through Central Park. Afterwards, you can sit down with the group for dinner and drinks. You’ll have to pay for that, but the memories will be priceless.

230 Fifth
We’ve been turned away from 230 Fifth more times than we’ve been let in, but it’s the rare spot where it actually feels worth the $15 for a cocktail. Do not make the mistake of staying for more than one, though—this place is meant for soaking up the view and closing the deal.
