Rally for Rent Reform
State Senator Liz Krueger joined elected representatives from around the five boroughs today on the steps of City Hall, calling for Governor Cuomo to address rent reform in the state budget. The rally, lead by State Senator Adriano Espaillat, brought officials, including Council Member Dan Garodnick, and community advocate groups together in support of new state legislation that will strengthen existing rent regulation laws. Current rent regulation laws are set to expire on June 15, 2011, but the rally focused on renewing these laws much earlier to avoid confusion and chaos for the residents of over one million rent-stabilized units in New York City.
