No Gaga for East Side Man

One dedicated Lady Gaga fan missed out on her sold out, four-night concert at Radio City Music Hall after a scuffle with a scalper. Police say the 25-year-old Upper East Side man tried to score tickets off Craigslist.org to the Lady Gaga show. He met with the scalper at 7:10 p.m., Jan. 19, on the corner of Third Avenue and East 87th Street. The victim handed over $450 to the scalper, who gave him the tickets, police said. The Gaga fan, unsure if the tickets were real, followed the scalper for two blocks and confronted him. The scalper allegedly punched the fan in the face and ran off with the tickets and cash. The jilted fan sustained a minor injury, cops said, but refused medical attention.
Park Assault

A man was assaulted—possibly at random—in Carl Schurz Park at 3:45 p.m., Jan. 16. Police said the 52-year-old White Plains man was playing a pick-up game of roller hockey at the park, near East 85th Street and East End Avenue, when a stranger hit him in the face from the side. The perp ran off after the assault, police said. The man’s face was fractured in four places. He was taken to the emergency room at New York Hospital.
Electronics, Jewelry Stolen

A man contacted police when he came home Jan. 20 to a ransacked apartment on Second Avenue, between East 88th and 89th streets. Cops said the 47-year-old man noticed his front door was broken and unlocked. The burglar made off with three cameras, totaling $649, a $1,200 laptop and six pieces of jewelry worth $1,125.
Security Gap

A man was arrested Jan. 14 for stealing hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from a Gap store. Police said that at 8 p.m. that day, Wayne Manning, 53, went into the store, at 1511 Third Ave. and East 85th Street, and took clothes into the dressing room. There, he used metal wire snips to remove tags from the merchandise. Cops said he walked out of the store with $761 worth of clothing. Police picked Manning up on Third Avenue and East 91st Street and charged him with petty larceny.
Rental Car Theft

Police said a man stole a car from Avis Car Rental, at 310 E. 64th St., between First and Second avenues. The company reported the theft Jan. 12. Using a forged driver’s license in another person’s name and a stolen credit card from a third person, the man rented a 2009 Cadillac with New Jersey plates Dec. 1, cops said. The car was supposed to be returned Dec. 31 but has since been missing.
Jewelry Stolen

A 63-year-old woman told police that her apartment on First Avenue and East 95th Street was burglarized Jan. 9. Upon returning home from work that day, the victim discovered that her apartment door was broken and that the bedroom had been ransacked. Police said she reported four missing gold earrings worth $200, three chains worth $300, three bracelets worth $500 and $30 cash.

Road Rage Leads to Fight
January 8, 2010
A man was assaulted Dec. 17 following a traffic dispute. The 30-year-old Queens man said that at 7 p.m. that day, another car tried to weave around him. When the other car pulled up to the northeast corner of Lexington Avenue and East 46th Street, the driver started cursing at the Queens man. Both men got out of their cars and the Queens man was punched in the face, cops said.
Apartment Burglarized

A woman told police that her home was broken into Dec. 20. The victim reportedly left open the front door to her apartment, on East 52nd Street and Second Avenue. Items stolen included a $1,500 laptop, $400 iPod and $150 cash, according to cops.
