One person who posted a video on Citizen said the raccoon was “rabid,” prompting a police response. Although not clear if the animal, which is still at large, really was rabid, people are advised to always avoid contact with racoons.

A raccoon was spotted walking across scaffolding on the Upper East Side on April 14 and when a user posted to the social media citizen that the animal was “rabid” it prompted a police response.
