Second Ave. Concrete Meets Test
Concrete used on the construction of the Second Avenue subway line is safe, said Rep. Carolyn Maloney at a press conference at 91st Street and Second Avenue Aug. 6.
She made the announcement after American Standard Testing and Consulting Laboratories, the company in charge of testing some of the concrete used on the line, was indicted by the Manhattan District Attorney for falsifying test results for the Second Avenue subway project and others throughout the city.

Last week, the New York City Detectives’ Endowment Association President Mike Palladino presented U.S. Representative Carolyn Maloney with an award recognizing her work on authoring and passing the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. The Act provides health care and access to compensation to those injured from the aftermath of 9/11.

The drawn-out fight to pass the Zadroga 9/11 health bill was made even longer by the Obama administration’s indifference, but the legislation got crucial, unexpected G.O.P. help, Democratic Congressman Jerrold Nadler said Monday.
