$1 Mil Heist Targets Celeb Jeweler In Diamond District
Benny Nisanov, also known as Benny Da Jeweler, had his shop on W. 47th St. robbed by two thieves. The December 7 incident ended after the men hopped in a black Mercedes and sped away, reportedly bearing a single chain priced at an eye-popping $1 million. No arrests have been made as of press time.
Thieves reportedly grabbed a glittering one million dollar chain from Benny Nisanov’s Diamond District pop-up shop on Dec 7. The two robbers reportedly threatened Nisanov and a client, who had been huddled together at the salesman’s “Benny the Jeweler” shop on W. 47th St. It was just after 1 a.m. After pilfering the valuable item, the men reportedly hopped in a black Mercedes sedan and sped off into the night.
No arrests have been made, and cops told Our Town that an investigation is ongoing. A visit to the shop on the morning of December 8 revealed that it was closed to the public, with a heavy police presence monitoring its surroundings.
Nisanov, who popularly goes by Benny da Jeweler, is beloved by hip-hop stars. Prominent New York rappers that have purchased bling from him include Lil Tjay, Fivio Foreign, and the passed-on superstar Pop Smoke.
In a recent radio interview, up-and-coming rap phenom Ice Spice–winner of an MTV Video award, described as a “breakout star” by Time, and featured on the remix of a Taylor Swift hit–showed off a pricey chain made by Nisanov that resembles her head. The jeweler shared a clip of the moment on his Instagram page.
