Kellie Leeson Endorsed by Three NYS Legislators
District 73 candidate is only one to receive backing of current state representatives
Three New York State elected officials have just given their backing to Kellie Leeson in the Assembly District 73 race. On Thursday, Assembly Members Emily Gallagher and Harvey Epstein, and Senator Robert Jackson endorsed Leeson’s bid to become the first woman to represent Assembly District 73.
Leeson is the only District 73 candidate endorsed by current New York State legislators.
“Kellie is an experienced, proven ally, and the State of New York will be better served with her in office,” Epstein said. “Whether it’s our immigrant and vulnerable neighbors, people impacted by gun violence, the LGBTQI+ community, expanding affordable housing, and advancing climate justice, I know Kellie will be a real partner in advocating for the rights and dignity of all New Yorkers.”
“I’m thrilled to endorse Kellie Leeson as the next Assembly Member for District 73,” Jackson said. “Kellie’s hard work with Empire State Indivisible and the True Blue Coalition was critical in securing the billions of dollars owed to our public schools. But our fight for education justice is far from over. Kellie is an experienced, compassionate leader I want to partner with in our efforts to ensure our students have the academic and socio-emotional support they need.”
“New Yorkers deserve a representative who will always put their needs first, and I know Kellie will do that for Assembly District 73,” said Gallagher. “As an advocate, Kellie has already done the work pushing back against corporate interests that put profits over people. As an elected official, I know Kellie will fight against a broken status-quo that leaves too many behind. I can’t wait to work with her in Albany.”
“I am so thrilled to have Assembly Members Epstein’s and Gallagher’s, and Senator Jackson’s endorsement,” Leeson said. “I know how important it is for a true coalition-builder to represent District 73. I’m ready to work with my future colleagues in the Assembly and Senate on behalf of my community, and all New Yorkers.”
Leeson, an international humanitarian leader and local advocate who helped found Empire State Indivisible (ESI), has received endorsements from State Senator Alessandra Biaggi, the Working Families Party, ESI, Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club, NoIDC NY and former District 73 Candidate May Malik, among others. Leeson is also a Mom’s Demand “Gun Sense” candidate.
