Sexual Assault Reported on UES, NYPD Releases Video of Suspect
Police are searching for an unidentified suspect who is said to have raped a 29-year-old woman after he “forcibly entered” her home on E. 92nd Street and 1st Avenue on Saturday, Sept. 28.
An unidentified male allegedly raped a woman after forcibly entering her Upper East Side residence on Saturday, Sept. 28, according to the New York City Police Department.
Police say that at around 3:40 a.m., a 29-year-old woman “was approached by an unidentified individual who forcibly entered her residence” on E. 92nd Street and 1st Avenue. The perpetrator “then raped the victim before fleeing on foot to parts unknown.”
The victim was brought to Lenox Hill Hospital, and was listed “in stable condition” police said.
This comes after a summer which had a number of other high publicity attacks in upper Manhattan. Back in June. police arrested Jermaine Longmire after he was alleged to have sexually assaulted a 21-year-old woman who was sunbathing in in Central Park. Police charged him with attempted rape after he was captured several days after his image was circulated to the public.
On August 10, police charged Quincy Burks with attempting to rape a 19-year-old woman near Gracie Mansion, in the same precinct as the Sept. 28 incident. Both suspects were arrested after police put out videos of the suspect and asked for the public’s help in tracking them down.
The NYPD’s Manhattan Special Victims Squad is working on uncovering who the Sept. 28 perpetrator was, with surveillance footage showing the individual after he left the victim’s home. NYPD “is asking for the public’s assistance in ascertaining the identity and whereabouts of the individual depicted.”
If anyone knows any more information on who the man in the footage is, NYPD requests they report it to the Crime Stoppers hotline (1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782)) or to Crime Stoppers online or on social media. The police assure that “all calls are strictly confidential.”
