June 12 marked the beginning of early voting in New York for the primary elections and this year, for the first time, the Metropolitan Museum of Art is being used as an early voting site. Until June 20, the Met has opened the Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education for registered voters to cast their ballots.
The museum will also host a voting site on election day, June 22. The push for this initiative comes on the heels of a nationwide uptick in early voting last year. On the first day at the ballot box, mayoral candidates, volunteers, and voters came out in the gloomy weather to cast their votes - and make their voices heard.
