Woman Murdered in East Side Shelter
Police seek public help in tracking down woman suspect
A 27 year old woman was brutally stabbed to death in a homeless shelter in the Turtle Bay area on Friday night and police are seeking the public’s health in tracking down the suspect.
The victim was identified as Victoria Goode, who was a resident of Project Renewal Shelter at 225 East 45th St.
The suspect, who was captured on surveillance video at the location and at a nearby subway station after fleeing the scene of the vicious attack, was identified by police as 42-year-old Charmaine Crossman. She was seen dressed in a pink sweater on the night of the murder. She remained at large by mid-day Monday.
Police said they were summoned to the sixth floor of the shelter around 9:50 on Friday night where they found the victim in a hallway suffering from stab wounds. EMS transported the victim to Bellevue Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
