Fires in high-rise apartment buildings always conjure up fearful images, especially as firefighters make their way up ladders to reach upper floors.
Fortunately, in the case of a call that reached the FDNY just after 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 7 about a fire on the sixth floor of a 20-story building at 301 E. 45th St., there were no injuries.
The building is fireproof and the flames were confined to a single apartment on the sixth floor.
Less than an hour after responding, at 11:19 a.m., the 60 firefighters and EMS on the scene reported the fire was under control and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the fire marshal.
