Elderly Woman Fatally Struck by 2 Vehicles on York and E. 72nd St.
”She was such a vibrant and caring person,” said a friend on a memory page of the obituary for the victim, Frances Rickard.

At approximately 5:41 p.m. on Feb. 5, an elderly woman was fatally struck by two separate cars while crossing the intersection of York Avenue and East 72nd Street.
The woman has been identified as Frances Rickard, who lived on the Upper West Side. Police told Straus News she was 90-years-old, however her obituary states she was 86-years-old.
She was initially hit by a 68-year-old man driving a 2020 Toyota Rav-4 as he was making a U-turn, said a police spokesperson.
While Rickard was on the ground as a result of the first collision, she was struck a second time by a 35-year-old woman driving a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Emergency responders rushed Rickard to New York Presbyterian / Weill Cornell Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.
“She was such a vibrant and caring person! She will be missed,” wrote Monique Lewis, a friend, on Rickard’s obituary.
Police confirmed that both drivers, who have not been identified by name, remained at the scene after the successive collisions. The NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad is conducting an ongoing investigation, and no arrests have been made.
