Violent crimes against persons, carried out in broad daylight.

From the confines of the 19th Precinct comes a report of a broad-daylight carjacking and robbery.
On Friday, March 7, at approximately 2:48 p.m., in the vicinity of Fifth Avenue and East 80th Street, two unidentified individuals approached a 58-year-old male victim while he was sitting in the driver’s seat of his parked vehicle.
This address is adjacent to the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the west side, while the east side of fifth features large co-op buildings on each corner, as well as the American Irish Historical Society building at 991 Fifth Ave.
The unidentified individuals proceeded to enter the vehicle, assault the victim, and forcefully remove him from the car. The two men then fled the location in the vehicle, which was discovered unoccupied in the vicinity of East 114th Street and First Avenue in East Harlem.
On the east side of this intersection is Jefferson Park; on the west, the Jefferson Houses NYCHA projects.
Surveillance photos released by NYPD show two men, one lighter-skinned and unmasked, the other darker with a mask, standing on an undisclosed sidewalk.
The lighter-skinned man, likely in his 20s or 30s, is wearing white sneakers with untied laces; red sweatpants, and a red hoodie with a black winter jacket and a black balaclava with his face exposed.
This same man appears to be opening a can of Fanta soda with the fingers on his right hand.
The darker man is seen in closeup talking into a smartphone while wearing a black winter coat with a fur-fringed hood and heavy black face mask, while behind him, his suspected accomplice gets ready to pop that soda tab.
